i.Am suing you.

I find this absolutely ridiculous and hypercritical. . .

Will.i.am, one of the judges on BBC talent show The Voice, is suing fellow US pop music star Pharrell Williams over his use of the phrase “I am” .

Mr Williams set up his own “i am OTHER” brand to promote talent online and said he was searching for a “diverse group of optimistic, bright minds”.
But Will.i.am, real name William James Adams, took exception and filed a lawsuit claiming that he owns the copyright to the phrase “I AM” and that Pharrell's logo is “confusingly similar” to his “i.am+” iPhone camera add-on, according to court documents.
The “registration of the mark.. is likely to dilute the I AM mark and the will.i.am mark”, the documents claim.
Pharrell Williams told Rolling Stone magazine: “I am disappointed that Will, a fellow artist, would file a case against me. I am someone who likes to talk things out and, in fact, I attempted to do just that on many occasions.
”I am surprised in how this is being handled and I am confident that Will's trademark claims will ultimately be found to be as meritless and ridiculous as I do.“
Will.i.am, founder of the hip hop band The Black Eyed Peas, has recently faced accusations of copyright infringement himself after producers Arty and Mat Zo accused him of sampling their song “Rebound” without their permission on his latest recording with singer Chris Brown.

Classic Wednesdays.

Good fucking morning!!! Some classic old house music from 1992 today, has a kinda acid feel to it but a very forward thinking song for it's time. The Club Dub mix by Ceybil - Love So Special

Also because I missed last week (again) I want to dedicate a song to Empire Of The Sun for releasing their highly anticipated second album 'Ice On The Dune'. I have always loved these two guys, they make cool indie/pop music and their creative direction and live performances done mainly by Luke Steele (The Sleepy Jacksons) is something I admire. This classic track is a remix from local producer Shazam, who I haven't heard much from as of late, hopefully he's whipping up more songs or remixes like this  >  >  >

This Will Destroy You

The sixth record by Kanye West #Yeezus dropped today, a very energetic and abrasive album that you would come to expect from the outspoken man. Features collabs from Daft Punk to Bon Iver and all artists in between (can't be fucked naming). I wouldn't call it a Hip Hop album but more a pop record. As much as I would love to hate Mr. West, he is an entertainer at heart and probably one of the most talented people in the biz today. He continually makes headlines and continually sells records to a very wide spread audience. Hats off to the dude who is really just a gay fish!

This post was not even supposed to be about him but thats what he does, just somehow squeezes his way into things!!! Anyway . . . This Will Destroy You is not referring to Kanye or his new record at all, instead a band named This Will Destroy You. The perfect band to listen to if you want to just relax and reflect or whatever, the band makes real atmospheric type rock music with minimal to yet no vocals. Perfect for a rather cold Tuesday night in bed, have a listen . . .

New Disco SHiz.

Some new deep disco vibes to get you through yet another week of life.  ☁  ☼

Check out this new tune from local Perth producer Joe Macc. He's putting out killer garage flavoured house music that's very very similar to Disclosure with his own twist, see for yourself  >  >  >

Torren Foot

After listening to Amine Edge & DANCE's set at Panorama Bar, which by the way is probably the most banging ghetto flavoured deep-house music iv'e heard (G-House), I came across many great new tracks, most I can't find anywhere but luckily I managed to find this one  >  >  >

Found out it's a fellow Aussie from Melbourne. Always good to hear Australian producers/Dj's making their way internationally. Make sure you check 'Torren Foot' out. Some solid productions on his sound cloud, from originals to classic remixes, he ranges from deep to minimal with an electro flavour to all his tracks.

Below is Amine Edge & Dance's set at Panorama Bar (Berghain). A must download!!

Classics

Because I missed last weeks through a bad case of bothered-ness I'm delivering two tonight. These two tracks are reasonably new compared to what I usually post, but a classic doesn't have to be old does it?? I'm posting these selected tracks because their probably the 2 tracks that converted me from my dub step/glitch phase to 'real' dance music. Hearing 'Need In Me' at club Watergate in Berlin was probably the game changer (before my time in Ibiza). One a banger and one very soothing, both are absolute classics, both with nice female vocals, both fucking ripping tunes!!

Flashmob - Need In Me

Larse - So Long

Terrible Tuesday.

A horrible day today after such big WA day long weekend. A lot of gigs around Perth, one of which I went to Breach & Route 94 @ Gilkinson's for Next Hype. I'm not to sure what happened that night but Next Hype have previously thrown some epic parties and with Breach & the mysterious Route 94 on the bill you would think it would be another night to remember, sadly it wasn't. Both average sets to an average crowd with no real lighting effects, I really felt let down. Anyway just an opinion, still won't stop me loving the two artists and Next Hype as their the ones bringing in some quality acts to such a remote city. Here's some songs ive discovered recently that got me through the Terrible Tuesday  >  >  >
